  At Mochas and Meows, we are not only committed to serving delicious, high-quality coffee, tea, smoothies, and more – we are equally passionate in providing the best transitional lives as possible for each and every cat that passes under our roof! With our unique side-by-side concept, we have managed to serve thousands of cups of delicious hot and cold beverages while socializing and permanently placing dozens of cats who would otherwise have been subjected to traditional kennel housing while they waited for their forever homes. Since we opened our doors on Friday, November 1, 2019, we have found homes for over 220 cats and continue to house at least 25 other free-roaming, adoptable kitties at any given time (as well as our 3 permanent residents)! 

So why a cat café? The short answer is socialization. Our cats are with us for a minimum of 3 days and during that time they become socialized with other cats and plenty of humans! When a cat has had the opportunity to become socialized, it tends to be friendlier and more affectionate than cats that spend long periods of time in small kennels or traditional shelters. Socialized cats are also more likely to adjust with current pets, family members, and guests more easily. Providing socialization to shelter cats increases their chances of adoptability and tends to help them have a far less traumatic acclimation when you bring them home than they would after being kenneled for weeks/months. Another benefit of adopting a catfé cat is that Mochas and Meows employees spend a lot of time with the cats, learn their behaviors and personalities, and are able to provide you with accurate, first-hand information about the personality of each of our cats so you are well informed and know what to expect with your new furry friend. This makes the transition a lot easier for both of you once you get them home!
